What is Acellular Dermis?
Acellular dermis is a biological tissue derived from human or animal skin that has had all cellular components removed, leaving behind a scaffold of collagen and extracellular matrix. This material is used in various medical and surgical applications, particularly in reconstructive surgery, wound healing, and tissue engineering. Acellular dermis provides a biocompatible and supportive environment for tissue regeneration, promoting healing while minimizing the risk of rejection or infection.
Application
When handling Acellular Dermis, ensure a sterile environment to maintain the integrity of the graft. Carefully remove the graft from its packaging, avoiding direct contact with non-sterile surfaces. If the graft appears dry, hydrate it with sterile saline or a suitable sterile solution before application. Gently manipulate the graft to achieve the desired shape and size, taking care not to damage its structure. Once prepared, the Acellular Dermis can be applied directly to the surgical site, where it will promote healing and support tissue regeneration.
